About Us

Ajna Yoga was founded in 2008 by Jules Payne and Michelle Schroeder. We offered our first level 1 Yoga Teacher Training Program in the fall of 2008 and our first Yoga Therapy training in 2010 (accredited by IAYT in 2014). Our therapeutic yoga studio opened in the fall of 2012.

We now offer online and in-person classes through our studio, as well as online yoga therapy modules. Our community has grown so much over the years! Almost a thousand people have trained with us and are now sharing the practice around the world.

At the core of our teaching is heart-based practices focused on inclusivity and anti-oppression. The majority of our faculty and studio teachers are uninvited settlers on the traditional land of Lekwungen peoples and are teaching a practice that is not of our culture.

One of the ways we are committed to anti-oppression is through reparations – donating to community organizations, including those that support South Asian, Indigenous and BIPOC folks.

In 2023, we donated to:

We encourage you to learn about these organizations and to consider supporting them.

We are grateful to our faculty, studio teachers, students, graduates and community members who co-create our Ajna community and continue to learn and grow with us. Are you a graduate of Ajna? If so, keep in touch by joining our facebook yoga therapy community. We also have a public facebook page for Ajna.
